Personal Statement

This section serves as an introduction to this privacy policy. It explains the purpose of the statement, emphasizing our commitment to user privacy and transparency regarding data collection and usage practices. We value your trust and strive to protect your personal information.

What are 'cookies'?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) when you visit a website. They are used to remember information about your visit. In short, we use two types of cookies:

  • 1. Session Cookies: Temporary cookies that expire once you close your browser
  • 2. Persistent Cookies: Cookies that remain on your device until they are deleted

Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies for various reasons, including:

  • Advertising: Cookies can help us deliver relevant advertisements to you based on your interests and browsing behavior

What information do we gather specifically?

We gather various types of information through cookies, including:

  • User Preferences: Information about your preferred language, theme, and other settings
  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our website, pages visited, time spent, links clicked
  • Device Information: Data about your device, browser type, operating system, and IP address

What third-parties do we share your information with?

What we never send to Google Analytics

We do not send Google Analytics any information that identifies you personally. In particular, we never send your name, email address, phone number, CV or resume content, messages, or any information from a job application. Where we need to distinguish one signed-in account from another for reporting, we use a random internal identifier that cannot be traced back to you by Google. Analytics data is retained for a maximum of 14 months and is then deleted automatically.

Your choices

Analytics cookies are optional and entirely under your control.

  • If you are in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland, analytics cookies are switched off until you choose to accept them
  • Everywhere else, you can turn them off at any time using the same banner
  • You can change your mind whenever you like using the 'Manage cookie preferences' button on this page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it
  • You can also delete cookies through your browser settings, or install Google's official opt-out browser add-on
  • Turning analytics off does not affect your account, your applications, or anything else you can do on Fruum

What third-parties do we share your information with?

We share information with a small number of service providers who help us operate Fruum. They may only use it to provide their service to us.

  • Google Analytics - website usage measurement, only if you accept analytics cookies
  • Stripe - payment processing for employer subscriptions. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers
  • Hosting and file storage providers - for running the site and storing files you upload, such as CVs and profile images
